Selank is a seven-amino-acid synthetic peptide developed at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. It's built from a natural four-amino-acid peptide called Tuftsin, with a three-amino-acid tail (PGP) added to make it more stable in lab conditions. Most published research is from Russian academic groups and looks at neuropeptide pharmacology.
How it's been studied: Lab research has examined how Selank influences GABA and serotonin signaling in the brain (the same chemistry families involved in mood and anxiety research), and how it affects gene expression in brain tissue from animal models. There's also a body of work on its effects on the immune system through Tuftsin-receptor pathways.

Handling notes: The PGP tail makes it more resistant to enzymatic breakdown than natural Tuftsin.
